The Ocean Boulevard Bike Trail Connector creates a needed transition between the iconic Gerald Desmond Bridge and the vibrant downtown Long Beach community.
The Connector provides the local community with enhancements to air quality, connectivity, and incorporates sustainable design enhancements.
As part of the City of Long Beach's iconic coastal bike paths initiative, the Ocean Boulevard Bike Trail Connector creates a needed transition between the Long Beach International Gateway and a vibrant downtown Long Beach community. This pedestrian-only structure provides the local Long Beach community with improved air quality and sustainable enhancements to the area. It also included engineering improvements of a bike path design; compliance with environmental and permitting requirements at the federal, state, and local level; and project development for community safety, connectivity, and attractiveness. The project promotes active transportation and provides facilities and amenities that will enhance connectivity in the regional and local bicycle networks for generations to come.
