Course Description:
This course will assist in identifying factors that influence the appropriate drilling technology for selection by the environmental professional performing various groundwater and/or soil investigations. The course will discuss the various site conditions that are likely to be encountered in the NE region of the United States and the special considerations that must be considered for drilling technology selection. Techniques such as jetting, sonic drilling, dual rotary drilling, cable tool or percussion drilling, down the hole hammer drilling will be discussed in addition to the traditional methods such as direct push, air rotary, mud rotary, and others.

Course Instructor:
Brian J. McGuire, CSP, CHMM, CWD, is the General Manager for SGS North America, Inc. United States Drilling Operations based on West Creek, NJ with over 20 years of progressive responsibility in environmental investigation, characterization, risk assessment, site closure, analytical laboratory and drilling operations working with the public and private sector. Prior to SGS,  Mr. McGuire was a project manager for an international environmental engineering consulting firm from 1996 to 2010. During that tenure, he was responsible for managing staff and projects out of multiple offices and states spanning from New Jersey to California. From 2010 to 2013, he was the Chief Operating Officer for a regional environmental analytical laboratory and remediation firm located in central NJ. Mr. McGuire has a B.S. degree in environmental science from William Paterson University and a M.S degree in Environmental Pollution Control from The Pennsylvania State University. Mr. McGuire is a Certified Safety Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, a Certified Well Driller and is on the board of Directors for the New Jersey Groundwater Association.

What Every LSRP Needs to Know About the 
NJ SRPLB Rules

Board members of the NJ Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board, and external experts will present an overview of the new LSRP rules (N.J.A.C. 7:26I Regulations) that were adopted and became effective Jan. 4, 2016. http://www.nj.gov/lsrpboard/board/rules  This half-day course is designed to update LSRPs on the new rules and help advance their ability to apply the rule changes in the  performance, supervision or coordination of site remediation in NJ.  A factual compliant case study will be presented. Review of Decisions posted on the board’s website will be explored.  Key findings that resulted in the penalty will be identified.  LSRPs will be guided through the process to see how and what the Board does to come to a decision.

Phil Brilliant, CHMM, LSRP- founder of Brilliant Environmental Services, LLC (BES) a full-service environmental consulting and contracting firm with offices in Jackson, NJ. Phil is Board Member/LSRP of the NJ Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board.

Jorge Berkowitz, Ph.D.,LSRPA private consulant offering site remediation expert services in support of clients responsibilities during remediation or during litigation.  An expert in the industry with over 40 years experience.  Jorge is a Board Member/LSRP of the NJ Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board.

Steve Barnett, Esq - Partner at Connell Foley with over 20 years of legal experience representing clients concerned with health, safety and environment, in transactions, court proceedings and regulatory permitting and compliance matters.

From the inception of the Continuing Environmental Education for Professional (CEEP) program at the College of Science and Mathematics (CSAM) at Montclair State University, Dr. Berkowitz and Mr. Brilliant have been in the classroom and in the boardroom assuring the success of the program.
