"Junior Mad Scientist"- Join us as we explore science! Our curriculum will look at lots of different ways that science influences our life. Our session today will include some "science" experiments, creations, and fun things to "wow" you. Our hands on activity will include making silly putty!!
Essential Pieces and Virginia Air & Space will be hosting a Summer Science Club at Virginia Air & Space. This is a closed event to children/individuals that are registered with Essential Pieces. Consider joining us for one of our Saturday sessions. Space is LIMITED!
Our Science Club will include:
FREE After 1pm: Come play with us. Come explore VASC and get some energy out! Play time is ONLY offered for those attending Science Club.
FREE 12:00-1:00pm: Science Club- VASC staff will offer a fun science learning curriculum that is sensory friendly and targets many different learning styles. Come check out one of our science club events. Each month will feature a different learning opportunity.
What if I am late?
We cannot accept late arrivals. The museum will be open to the public, but Science Club is specifically for Essential Pieces families ONLY, so we kindly request that you arrive on time. Check-in time will be from 11:45am-12pm. Our Science Club will start promptly at 12pm.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Please make sure you are registered for this event. Please be sure to register upon arrival. You MUST be on our guest list to be eligible for Science Club and FREE after-play of the center. This does not include admission to iMax or other events that are being offered at the center. Parents/Caregivers are responsible for additional costs. Science club is offered to those ages 5yr old & up. Younger siblings may be considered. You must be enrolled in Essential Pieces to attend Science Club. No ID required! Just bring your ticket. Each person attending will need to register and obtain a ticket. All ages welcome. All children MUST be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event. Adult individuals are welcome to attend, but if they require support or assistance, a caregiver should attend with them. Enrollment packets must be completed and received prior to attending this Essential Pieces event.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Currently we do not offer transportation to Essential Pieces Events. However, we recommend accessing public transportation, such as the bus or paratransit at: http://www.gohrt.com/services/paratransit/paratransit-eligibility/
You may park on the street in time limited parking spaces or park for FREE in the parking garage located across the street from the VA Air & Space Center. For more information about parking:http://www.vasc.org/plan-your-visit/getting-here
You will enter the building at the front entrance facing the street. You may use the ramp or stairs to access the entrance. Activities are offered on the multi levels of the building, lots of stair access is required, but elevators are available for your use. All rooms and restrooms are accessible.
Upon entering the building, please check in at the Essential Pieces check in booth. We recommend arriving about 10 minutes early to complete the check-in process. If you are staying to play after science club, volunteer/VASC staff will NOT be availible to assist you or your child. You MUST stay with your child/individual for the duration of the events. If you are only coming for science club, check in will start at 11:45am and end promptly at 1pm. Please provide your ticket for all individuals attending the event. Please be sure to request a ticket for all attendees. Each person must present their own ticket. Additionally, please ensure that you have completed all enrollment paperwork for each person attending for the 2016 year. Enrollment forms must be completed to participate in Community Adventures. You MUST complete ENROLLMENT paperwork to be eligbile who have completed. Science Club has limited attendance, so please EP registrants ONLY.
Inclement weather notifications:
In the event of inclement weather, this essential pieces workshop may be cancelled. Please check our Facebook page via: Essential Pieces Tidewater to check for such notices. Cancellations will be decided no later than 9am on the day of this event.
What can/can't I bring to the event?

Science Club and museum exploration are held indoors.

What if I need to cancel my registration?
You may cancel your ticket via your Eventbrite registration. We kindly ask that if you cannot attend this Essential Pieces Tidewater event, that you please cancel your ticket within 48hrs of the event. This will allow others to attend this event in your place. Failure to cancel your registration, will result in a no show status. Two no-show status incidents may result in your inability to participate in future Essential Pieces Tidewater Community Adventures events.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes. You will need a ticket for each person attending.
What is the cost of this event.
This Essential Pieces Tidewater Community Adventures event is FREE for each child and adult individuals affected by disabilities, siblings, and/or one parent/caregiver. Everyone must be registered.iMax admission is not included.

No. Your registration/ticket must match attendee name. We're sorry, additional family members/ friends cannot take the place of other family members and cannot attend this activity due to our limited attendance.
