Join us for an evening conversation on the ethics of revision and longform practice in the documentation of Black religious life in the United States.
Magnum Foundation grantee Kameelah Janan Rasheed will present the first chapter of Mapping the Spirit, focused on the Moorish Science Temple of America. Mapping the Spirit is an iterative archival project that seeks to document and contextualize the wide permutations of spiritual life amongst people of African descent in the United States through photography, video, longform interviews, and ephemera. The program will be introduced with remarks from Marilyn Nance, who will discuss her work documenting African-American spiritual life.
Seating is on a first come, first served basis. Wine and light refreshments will be served!
