Event description

Description

As part of the traveling exhibit, "Mapping Mexican History: Territories in Dispute, Identities in Question" currently on display at the Pecan Library at South Texas College in McAllen, TX, South Texas College will host a FREE workshop on using digital tools for teaching.

Using archival materials held at the University of Texas at Austin’s Benson Latin American Collection, we will introduce StoryMapJS, a straightforward web-based authoring platform for the presentation of map and visual material analyses. We will show you how to create interactive curriculum materials using a selection of Benson primary sources related to the exhibition and other online sources.

**No prior knowledge necessary and students/faculty from any discipline are encouraged to attend.**

Lunch will be served. Space is limited to 30 people. Registration closes Wednesday, September 13.

Workshops will be led by Itza Carbajal (Master of Science in Information Studies Candidate) and Albert A. Palacios (LLILAS Benson Digital Scholarship Coordinator) from The University of Texas at Austin.
