MOBILE ADVOCACY TRAINING

ACVS is proud to present a unique training program called the Mobile Advocacy Training program. The goal of the program is to provide free training for agencies that are unable to attend traditional training. An agency can request training to come to your area and train advocates and any allied professionals you choose. The trainings vary in length by topic.

Stalking

Angela Rose

Angela has been the Director of Training for New Life Center since 2019. Prior to this position, Angela was the Victim Services Manager for the City of Scottsdale Prosecutor’s Office for over 12 years, overseeing victim advocacy services to approximately 4,000 victims annually. Prior to working for Scottsdale, Angela served in a variety of human services capacities, including as a support group facilitator and case manager for a domestic violence shelter and a mobile crisis specialist for a mental health agency. In addition, Angela worked as a high-needs case manager and supervised the case management staff for the largest transitional housing agency in the Valley. Angela currently serves as the Chair of the Arizona Victim Assistance Academy (AVAA).

Child Victimization

Melissa Brickhouse Thomas

Melissa received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Northern Arizona University (1995) followed by her master’s degree in Social Work (1997) from Arizona State University. She holds a professional license in Clinical Social Work from the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health (LCSW 10680). Her professional experience has scoped all arenas of trauma, violence, and victimization. She currently supervises the Victim Assistance Unit at the Glendale Police Department, coordinates the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) program, and is a member of the departments Threat Assessment Team. Melissa is also a previous Faculty Associate with Arizona State University School of Social Work where she is taught an Advanced Practice course in Domestic Violence. In addition to her full-time work, she holds several private consulting contracts that provide clinical supervision and training in the areas of victimization; violence against women/children; offender treatment; and domestic/sexual violence. Through these contracts, she has the powerful opportunity to provide expert testimony in understanding victim trauma within the context of domestic and sexual violence.
