Join TriMech’s engineering experts for a multi-part Manufacturing Summit featuring SOLIDWORKS, 3D printing, and 3D scanning technology. Register now to learn more about SOLIDWORKS Simulation, Additive Manufacturing, and 3D scanning with a networking experience following the event.

Agenda & Session Descriptions:

9:00am - 10:30am: Reverse Engineering Using 3D Scanning with SOLIDWORKS

During this presentation, we will review how to use an Artec 3D scanner to quickly capture an object. We will walk through the process of assembling the scan data using Artec Studio 13 to create an object file. We will demonstrate how to:

  • Reverse Engineer 3D scan data into a complete 3D parametric model that can be brought into SOLIDWORKS using Geomagic for SOLIDWORKS
  • Use SOLIDWORKS Simulation to optimize design to improve the part(s) from the original scanned data

10:30am – 10:45am: Morning Break

10:45am – 12:00pm: 3D Printing Technology / Additive Manufacturing

  • Overview of traditional, current and breakthrough additive manufacturing technologies
  • Introduction to Design for Additive Manufacturing principle
  • Learn how to import a scanned file and prepare it for 3D printing
  • Learn more about the various types of technologies (including FDM, PolyJet, SLA & SLS) and how they are used in different applications

During the second half of the presentation, we will 3D scan the improved part with the Artec 3D scanner. We will then take the scanned object data into Geomagic Control X, a comprehensive metrology software platform. We will demonstrate how to:

  • Check improved part to using metrology software Geomagic Control X
  • Make a direct comparison by analyzing the 3D model data to the 3D scan data

12:00pm – 1:00pm: Lunch & Learn - Artec Leo 3D Scanner Demonstration

During lunch, we will offer a live demonstration of the Artec Leo 3D Scanner and accompanying software. Learn how this new technology can assist your company in creating 3D digital copies of anything, anywhere. The Leo technology has a fully portable mobile scanning system. The 3D scanner can work in both indoor and outdoor environments, and scan any object from the size of a basketball to car. The only limitation to how much time it takes to scan an object is how fast you can move.
