Manifesto Anniversary - Affordable Workspace

In 2018 the East End Trades Guild produced an historic Affordable Workspace Manifesto, established through our research with members and our partners the New Economics Foundation. This event was covered in The Independent, The Evening Standard, The Guardian, and BBC London News, and won commitments for action from two local Mayors.

Now in partnership with Guardians of the Arches, we hold Mayor John Biggs and Mayor Philip Glanville accountable against the pledges they made one year on. Join us to hear what progress has been achieved so far and how you can help shape the work ahead.

"A percentage of a market that is out of control rapidly becomes unaffordable. The argument is won, we need affordable workspace and now we have to find out what is truly affordable and bottom this out through this research" Philip Glanville, Mayor of Hackney.

"Small businesses are the bedrock of the economy. I recognise that just as residential rents are rapidly pricing people out of boroughs, commercial rents are doing the same. If I’m lucky enough to be re-elected on 3rd May, I want to sit down with your members to make this work" John Biggs, Mayor of Tower Hamlets.

Read all the manifesto proposals and the Mayor's responses here.

Doors at 6.40pm for a 7pm prompt start with beer from East London Brewery, The Five Points Brewing Company, Hackney Brewery, soft drinks from Square Root Soda and food from Arapina Bakery! Halal vegan and vegetarian options available.
