Event description

Description

This event is the opening keynote event of the first-ever book festival in the US devoted exclusively history being held in Lewes, Delaware on October 6 and 7, 2017.

The event is being held in the Bethel United Methodist Church fellowship hall, where all of the Coastal Concerts are held. The previous location, Cape Henlopen High School, had parking issues due to the Homecoming football game. All tickets with the Cape Henlopen High School location printed will be honored.

This fascinating keynote by James Swanson, the New York Times best-selling author of Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer, is a gripping hour-by-hour account told through the eyes of the hunted and the hunters.

This keynote includes narrative, music and visuals.

The music will be provided by The Federal City Brass Band. This band, founded in 2002 by Jari Villanueva, recreates the sound and appearance of a regular U.S. Army regimental brass band of the 1860s. For the most part, the instruments used by the band are originals dating to the mid 19th century. The sources of the music include original band journals and sheet music of the Civil War era. Each year the band participates in the annual Remembrance Day ceremonies in Gettysburg, PA. (See YouTube videos here and here.)

Sponsored by the Schell Families.
