Description

Dear APD Sworn Staff,

The Department will offer five sessions of Leading the Multi-Generational Workforce beginning March 1, 2018. This 8-hour STC certified training is mandatory for all sworn staff. Please obtain approval via your Supervisor before registering to ensure unit coverage. If you have schedule conflicts, please contact your Supervisor.

At no time in our nation’s past, have we had as generationally diverse a workforce as we have now. Employees in their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and 50’s, are working side by side, hopefully with the same common goals. The challenge for leaders is how to bring them together in a mutually inter-dependent working unit in a way that promotes productivity, stability, and harmony.

In this interactive eight-hour class, participants will examine methods and strategies to motivate efficiently, mentor, supervise and lead the three generations. Ethics and the three generations are also discussed. Also, participants will identify current management practices which may need to be modified to more effectively lead the new generation of employees.
