Mandatory International Undergraduate Student Orientation Fall 2013
Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (MDT)
In order to ensure a successful start to your academic career at the University of Colorado Denver (UCD), all new international students in F or J visa classification, including immigration transfers from other institutions within the US, are required to attend the mandatory Orientation and check in that begins at 8am and ends at 5pm. You are required to attend the entire session. Lunch will be served at 12pm.
The orientation is designed to facilitate your successful start at CU Denver! We want to use this time to welcome you, to get to know you, and to share with you some essential information. This orientation is separate from the main general New Student Orientation and also separate from any orientation provided by specific academic departments.
FRESHMEN (no college credits after high school graduation) ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND AN ADDITIONAL ORIENTATION. PLEASE GO TO http://www.ucdenver.edu/life/services/orientation/freshmen/Pages/default.aspx FOR MORE INFORMATION.
During the orientation, ISSS staff will be collecting documents and information from you that are required in order to report critical information to the US Department of Homeland Security regarding your arrival and your program of study. In addition, the session is designed to educate new students regarding immigration regulations that relate to their period of stay in the US. Also, students will be provided with information about campus services, how to obtain US social security cards and driver’s licenses, cultural adjustment issues, health services and insurance, and more.
Please remember to bring with you to the orientation the check-in form(s) available on the ISSS Web site at http://international.ucdenver.edu/checkin. You must present the check-in form(s) in order to enter the session. We also ask that you arrive promptly at the start time of 8am and stay the entire day until 5pm.
Orientation continues on Friday, June 16 with a Welcome Session at 10:30 followed by Convocation at 12 pm and a BBQ party to follow that.
Failure to attend orientation or otherwise failing to check in with ISSS prior to the start of your academic program may result in the loss of your legal status in the United States.
