On June 28, 2016, Chicago passed its Paid Sick Leave ordinance, and Cook County hastily followed suit in October 2016, with both laws going into effect on July 1, 2017. Despite these laws being in effect for over a year, many business simply fail to comply. This includes simply not providing any paid sick leave at all, to noncompliant accrual, use and carryover policies, to failure to follow notice requirements.
