ANNOUNCEMENT

Winter/Cold Emergencies is a no-cost training as a result of collaborative efforts between Barron County stakeholders to provide enhanced incident management and patient care.

OVERVIEW

This five (5) hour training provides how to identify, assess, and treat winter and cold related emergencies. There will be a 60 minute lecture from Dr. Carpenter (Lakeview Medical Center), followed by a 60 minute skills session, and then a 2-hour hands-on field scenario.

Topics will include:

Hypothermia

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Trauma Assessment

C-Spine Considerations involving Helmets

Wilderness Transport Options

Overview of Local Resources

Incident Management and Special Considerations


WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Pre-hospital personnel from EMS, fire departments, first responder agencies, air medical programs, and hospital staff.

CONTINUING EDUCATION (CEs)

This course is approved for (4) CEs through WI EMS as topical or flexible content hours.
