Learn how to care for photograph archives at this one-day “Managing Photographic Collections” workshop on Monday, December 5, 2011, 9:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. at the Warsaw Community Public Library (IN).
This hands-on workshop covers appraisal, access, copyright, arrangement and description, cataloging, process identification, preservation, and storage. The workshop will also briefly cover best practices for digitization. The information will benefit anyone managing photographic collections at libraries, museums, or historical societies and is open to participants from all sectors.
NOTE: Attendees are invited to bring problematic or interesting photographs for a show-and-tell session. You are welcome to email your questions in advance. Feel free to email photos of the types of images that you have in your collections and we will work them into the presentation. Send to email@example.com

Presenter: Joan Hostetler
Hostetler owns Heritage Photo & Research Services. She regularly consults on photograph preservation and digital imaging with historical societies, museums, libraries, and archives throughout Indiana. She studied preservation and archives management at the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film.
The training session is part of the Photograph Preservation Workshop Series sponsored by the Pierceton Library, the South Whitley Library, and the Kosciusko County Historical Society. Funding was provided through a matching grant from Indiana Humanities in cooperation with the National Endowment for the Humanities.
