Event description
Join WWCode Vancouver and Spare Labs to learn about Istio and the benefits of implementing a service mesh layer for microservices.

About this Event

As applications are broken down from giant monolithic projects into microservices, there needs to be a nice and easy way to manage service discovery and observability, traffic management, as well as security and policies management.

Adopting a service mesh is a common approach these days to operating a secure, fast and reliable microservices architecture. Aside from surfacing more metrics and a better understanding and tracking of the various components of the system, service meshes are also useful for testing microservice-based applications in production.

Join us for an evening at Spare Labs, and find out what drove their team to adopt Istio as a service mesh, and how Istio helps them leverage traffic shadowing to test out new features prior to releasing them into the wild.

Speakers

Alexey Indeev, Co-Founder & CTO, Spare Labs

Alexey leads Spare's long term technology vision. He founded Spare to help build more efficient, alternative ways to tackle the problem of personal car usage. During the weekends, Alexey enjoys hiking, backcountry camping and all things wilderness.

An La, Software Engineer, Spare Labs

Mechanical engineer turned software developer, An is a fresh member of the backend team here at Spare Labs. After hearing about Spare’s unique vision to tackle the problem of more efficient and effective transportation solutions, she was sold and immediately jumped onboard. When not camped out in front of a computer, An is often hiding with her snowboard on a local mountain, out sprinting about chasing some flying plastic at ultimate frisbee or just chilling on a patio coffee or beer in hand.
