Event Details

Main Conference

  Day One - June 7, 2017 - 8AM - 5PM
Day Two - June 8, 2017 - 8AM - 12.30PM

Rapid advances in energy technology may challenge utility paradigms, but also put a new array of options for grid balancing into the hands of planners and engineers. Mechanisms range from automated demand response, to virtual power plants, to distributed behind-the-meter storage, to microgrids and visions like “transactive energy.” Dozens of new third party aggregator platforms, business models and technology innovators are targeting this segment.

MANAGING DERS will provide a thorough survey of the “emerging Grid 2.0 toolkit.” Major utilities will lead, frame and wrap up the discussion, and prominent grid experts and leaders from innovative “energy service” providers will explain how these novel platforms and business models are working today, and how they can best be leveraged going forward -- in close collaboration with utilities. The event, including two pre-conference technical workshops, will assist executives, planners and junior staff who are looking at the future resource and business strategy needs of utilities in a time of rapid change. Anyone planning to develop or market new “clean energy service” products or platforms will also find MANAGING DERS a valuable opportunity for go-to-market strategy and networking.

Session I: The Big Picture

Session II: New Architecture, Controls and Hardware Upgrades for a Dynamic Distributed Grid

Session III: Applied Scenarios – Test Beds, Pilot Project and Case Studies

Session IV: New Mechanisms and Solutions for Management of High DER Regions: Innovators and Solution Providers

Session V: System Planning/Management Strategies for Grid 2.0
