Carol's Bio

Carol Fishman Cohen is the CEO and Co-founder of iRelaunch. As the pioneering company in the career reentry space, iRelaunch is the leader in career reentry programming of all kinds. iRelaunch works directly with over 30 Fortune 500 companies in a range of roles, to develop, pilot, source for, present in and publicize their reentry internship programs, or similarly support their efforts to hire relaunchers directly into open roles without internships. Founded in 2007, iRelaunch is deeply engaged with its employer partners, a national network of alumni career services directors at leading colleges and universities, professional organizations across industry sectors, and a global community of “relaunchers.” iRelaunch’s flagship event, the iRelaunch Return-to-Work Conference, has run 20 times since 2008 and over 5,400 people have attended. Nearly 30,000 people have attended over 250 iRelaunch programs and presentations.

Carol wrote the seminal Harvard Business Review article “The 40 Year Old Intern” and is a regular HBR contributor. Her TED talk on relaunching has been viewed nearly 1.5 million times and translated into 28 languages. iRelaunch originated and co-leads, along with the Society of Women Engineers, the STEM Re-entry Task Force, in which 13 global companies are piloting internships for returning technical professionals, and the Financial Planner Reentry Initiative in the financial planning profession with the CFP Board Center for Financial Planning. Carol’s return to work at Bain Capital after 11 years out of the full-time workforce is documented in a Harvard Business School case study. Carol was named a 2016 Next Avenue Influencer in Aging and was named to the 2017 Thinkers50 Radar list of 30 leading management thinkers. She graduated from Pomona College and has an MBA from Harvard Business School. Carol lives in Boston with her husband Stephen. They have four grown children.
