Event Details

Workshop Description:
This half-day workshop will explore the role of technology and individual communication styles in creating connectivity and engagement during work, school and leisure time. Participants will explore the concept of individual diversity and will have a hands-on opportunity to create their own "diversity DNA(dDNA)," the range of human experiences that we all have, and follows with a comparison of each individual's dDNA to the dDNA of other participants.

The six categories of experience the workshop explores are dispute, physicality, meaning, relationship, language and action. This comparison strategy has been shown to strengthen effective communication and build personal insight to improve interaction with others both at the individual and organizational level. By examining individual diversity and appreciating our commonalities, participants will discover striking connections from person to person, person to team, and team to the entire workplace.

Each participant will:
• Learn the concepts of individual diversity
• Review the 23 aspects which together create an individual DNA
• Create your own dDNA "iceberg"
• Compare your dDNA to others, individually and groups (full privacy the default setting)
• Learn how to effectively resolve a range of workplace miscommunication arising from clashing values

Who should attend:
Executive directors, human resource professionals, program directors, business operations managers, supervisors and volunteers. Open to the first 20 registrants.
