Man As Object: Peep Show Drawing Circle
Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM (PST)
San Francisco, CA
Join us for a participatory event to accompany Man as Object: Reversing the Gaze (November 4–30) and try your hand at reversing the gaze. All artistic skill levels and non-artistic observers are welcome. A Hapa male model will be drawn by the heightened vantage point of the audience. Please bring your own drawing supplies.
All drawings created by the audience will be exhibited on site for the event, then taken home by the artists. The afternoon features a reprise of Chanel Matsunami Govreau’s performance “Hapa Bruthas,” an exploration of Hapa male and Asian male sexuality, brotherhood, and the effects of interracial dating in Asian American communities from a mixed-Asian woman’s perspective.
