Description

It's our Birthday and we want to celebrate the magic of Malheur with you! Enjoy two presentations followed by book signing from notable birders, naturalists, authors and lovers of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge; Kenn Kaufman and Alan Contreras. Light fare will be provided and the Elks Club bar will be open for service. A donation of $10/person is suggested and appreciated.

6:30 PM Kenn Kauffman; Migration Matters of the West

Kenn Kaufman is an American author, artist, naturalist, and conservationist, known for his work on several popular field guides of birds and butterflies in North America. Born in South Bend, Indiana, Kaufman started birding from the age of six and began sharing his love of nature with us through his first book, Kingbird Highway (1997).

7:00 PM Alan Contrares; The Fine Arts at Malheur

Alan Contrares is a renouned American writer, poet, birdwatcher, and education consultant. He is best known for his contributions to Oregon ornithology and his work in higher education. His most recent publication through OSU Press, Edge of Awe, is a compelling anthology gathers together personal impressions of the Malheur-Steens country.

8:00 PM Live Auction FriendRraiser; Funds raised this evening will go to support the Friends of Malheur NWR's committment of $4,500 towards the 2019 NW Youth Corps Tribal Stewards Program.
