UPWARD Men invites all male leaders to attend a panel discussion as we learn how to be a better ally for women leaders.

About this event

Many men claim and want to support gender equality and be an ally to help the advancement of women in the workplace.

Join our UPWARD Men Chapter Leaders as they host a discussion for male leaders on the do's, don'ts, & defining respect in regards to male allyship.

Following our panel discussion, we will continue the conversation in breakout rooms to meet  and learn from other global male leaders.

Wendy Choi is currently Vice President and Associate General Counsel, IP at the Avery Dennison Corporation, where she is responsible for the global intellectual property portfolio (patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and related matters) for the Fortune 500 company. She has over 25 years of broad and deep legal and executive leadership experience, both in-house and in private practice, representing clients in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and medical device industries, ranging from start-up companies to academic and government institutions to the largest corporations domestically and internationally in complex IP, transactional, litigation, tax, data security and privacy, and regulatory matters, including strategy, procurement, monetization, and enforcement globally. Wendy is a member of the company's North America D+I Council and Lean In Circle leader.

Schone Malliet is CEO & President of Winter4Kids at the National Winter Activity Center.

He is a transformational leader making a difference in the lives of families, organizations, individuals and communities. As the founder and former Chairman of the National Winter Sports Education Foundation (NWSEF), now Share Winter Foundation, Schone is positioning winter activity as life changing; improving the lives, fitness and health of youth throughout the United States. He is the CEO and President of Winter4Kids (W4K) at the National Winter Activity Center that opened the winter of 2015 in New Jersey as an outdoor winter facility dedicated to instruction and competition for youth. Serving thousands of kids through their W4K programs, they have the opportunity to become lifetime enthusiasts, fans, and maybe competitors. From the initial pilot in 2015, 8,671 youth have participated. In the shortened

2020 season about 2,000 youth from sixty-nine (69) non-profit schools and organizations registered. Winter4Kids plans to be to support 10,000 per year by 2024.

Raised in the South Bronx, Schone was educated in New York City parochial schools. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Holy Cross College, and an MBA from Pepperdine University. He has a broad set of accomplishments to draw upon from family, military, athletic and corporate environments, having held these positions: Marine pilot, alpine ski racing coach, Chief Executive Officer of ViaNovus, alyXsys Inc., and senior sales and marketing executive. Schone is Vice President of the Holy Cross Alumni Association (HCAA) board, former Chairman of the board of managers of the Harlem YMCA, a recipient of NY Urban League “Building Brick” award, Anheuser Busch “Man of the Year” award, acknowledged as the YMCA of Greater NY Volunteer of the Year award as well the YMCA “Achiever in Industry” recognition.

Selena Schneider is currently Senior Director, Transfer Pricing at TE Connectivity Corporation.  She has over two decades of experience in providing transfer pricing and valuation services. Selena has held a variety of leadership positions in the industry including careers at one of the world’s largest accounting firms, the U.S. Treasury Department, a top 50 global technology company, and a financial services company.

Selena’s experience encompasses global tax planning, business restructurings, merger and acquisition integration, and regulatory developments. She has expertise with transfer pricing policy implementation, preparation of U.S. and foreign documentation, transfer pricing audit defense, and operational transfer pricing. Selena has collaborated on various advance pricing agreements, competent authority matters, and compliance assurance processes.

John Underfer is President & Chief Client Advocate at Worldwide IP Solutions.

John has more than 25 years’ experience leading services related companies. His expertise in intellectual property law comes from a lengthy tenure under Young-Wook Ha, Managing Partner and President of Ha & Ha Patent Law and from his time managing and providing strategic direction to an international intellectual property law firm that specialized in assisting corporation and US law firms with the filing and prosecution of patents and trademarks outside the United States.

John most enjoys working directly with clients as it allows him to see the impact of the intellectual property protection process he has worked many years honing.

In addition to his interests in intellectual property law, John enjoys civic engagement. He has long been involved with many nonprofit organizations including Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Real Men Wear Pink, Rotary International, United Way, Boy Scouts of America and U.S. Ski & Snowboard(USSA).
