Event Details

This is part of a weekly one-off tasting menu series for those who wish to explore Malaysian classics. The meal begins with small plates of popular hawker delights, followed by an entree of the infamous "laksa" noodle soup and ends with a light sweet treat. Each week's menu is different so check out other October listings on my profile.

Keropok & Sambal 

Malaysian chips, house sambal dip.

 

Curry Kapitan & Lace Crepe

Literally Captain's curry, this thick chicken curry is rich with contrasting spices & bright tangy notes. One version of its origin is that Chinese-Malaysian cooks between 15th & 17th centuries invented the dish for their British ship captains. Served with turmeric lace crepe known as roti jala. 


Otak-Otak

Boneless fish with keffir lime, spices, coconut cream, wrapped and cooked in banana leaves.

 

Kerabu Boknee

Wood-ear mushroom salad with onion, fresh herbs, peanuts in savory-sweet and spicy dressing. Spicy.

 

Laksa Lemak 

Spicy noodle soup with coconut, fermented shrimp & chicken broth, freshly ground spices, gulf shrimp, chicken, brined egg, hot sauce and fresh herbs. Spicy.

 

Sago Gula Melaka

Tapioca pudding with caramelized coconut blossom nectar.

Eat with Tracy

Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Tracy has a business school background and worked in corporate positions for several years before taking a stab at a culinary profession. She began documenting her multicultural cooking adventures under the Instagram handle, @EatWithTracy. After moving to San Francisco in 2012, curious local diners who found her on social media became the impetus for hosting her first pop-up dinners. Since then, Tracy has held over 400 pop-ups and served thousands around the Bay Area. She is committed to introducing the diversity of Malaysian cuisine and culture to San Francisco.
