Former State Film Commissioner David Bennett will share the bounty of his experience with FuelFilm:Memphis’ guests at the upcoming workshop, “Making Your Package”, Saturday, October 22 from 1-4 pm at Emerge Memphis, 516 Tennessee St., Memphis, TN.
The October workshop will take filmmakers through the rigors of assembling a business plan to present to prospective investors. Guests of the 2011 Season have learned elements of screenwriting, creating a short film, pitching their ideas, writing a synopsis of their project, and casting crew and actors. This final piece of the puzzle is intended to turn the creative minds toward the “business” of filmmaking.
As Tennessee Film, Entertainment, and Music Commissioner under former Governor Phil Bredesen, Bennett was responsible for bringing to Memphis, production of the feature film “Walk The Line”, which subsequently earned multiple academy awards. He is also a past governor of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, MidSouth Chapter, and is currently chairman of its “Rising Star” Award. Since leaving the governor’s office, Bennett and his associated companies (including Altura Productions and Freewill Films) have created and produced independent and documentary films and music programming for the big and small screen.
FuelFilm:Memphis is grateful for the continuing support of the Memphis & Shelby County Film Commission and the tireless work of Commissioner Linn Sitler. We appreciate the sponsorship of the Memphis Economic Development, and The Peabody Hotel. We remain perpetually indebted to our “parent” organization, LaunchMemphis; together, we are growing filmmaking as the “business” of entertainment in the MidSouth!
You don’t have to be a filmmaker to benefit from this workshop. For the $10 entry fee, you can learn from industry professionals, make new contacts, connect with local filmmakers on current and upcoming projects, and walk away with a feasible business plan. Don’t miss David Bennett’s lecture and workshop, “Making Your Package”.
