Event Details

Emi Berger photoTitle: Making the Long Journey Home to Recovery with Emi Berger

Event Description: Emi Berger spent many years battling bulimia in secrecy and silence, sure that no one else would understand her private pain. After nearly 15 years of trudging through the battle alone she finally reached out. After 5 years in private therapy as well as with the support of a few close friends, Emi began the road to recovery. In the summer of 2011 she contacted MentorCONNECT in an effort to join in eating disorder activism efforts because doing so inspired her to fight harder for her own life. She also wanted to help others realize they are not alone. Now, in this once-in-a-lifetime event, Emi shares her own personal recovery story of how she emerged from her years of hidden pain to become an empowered leader in the eating disorder field.

If you are still trapped in the secret pain of your eating disorder, join us and learn how to find the strength to heal through sharing your personal story!

Presenter Bio: Emi Berger is a 34-year old woman, veterinarian, athlete, musician, daughter, sister, friend and advocate. She first came to MentorCONNECT as the founder/organizer for the wildly successful 2011 "Tour de MentorCONNECT" fundraising event, where she  rode her bicycle cross-country from New York to California to raise money for MentorCONNECT. The event raised more than $10,000. Emi has a special heart for MentorCONNECT because she believes that recovery demands providing those who are suffering with a safe and easy way to ask for help, to confront their disease and, with the help of a community of others, to find ways to recover and rebuild their lives. You can learn more about Emi on the MentorCONNECT leadership page here: http://www.mentorconnect-ed.org/mcleadershipteam/
