Making Sense of Sensory Strategies & Solutions

By: Dr. Kate Crowley

Dr. Crowley specializes in collaborating with early childhood mental health professionals to integrate sensory approaches into our work with young children and their families.  As part of the day, Dr. Crowley will include a case review with a PABC care team.  This session is designed for everyone working with young children: parent partners, care coordinators, therapists, and teachers.

At the end of this presentation participants will:

 1.   Identify challenging behaviors stemming from trauma

 2.   Understand sensory triggers preceding disregulated behavior

 3.   Understand contributions of sensory processing and modulation to states of regulation

 4.   Identify characteristics of children with regulatory disorders, sensory processing disorders, and trauma-based behavior

 5.    Begin to describe sensory processing with different sensory inputs and a variety of equipment and objects

 6.   Identify your own sensory preferences and triggers as you experience the sensory stations

 7.  Identify children and families who might benefit from sensory experiences such as you have experienced today
