Event description

Description

Could mission trips and charitable giving actually be toxic - causing harm vs. helping?

The Medical Benevolence Foundation and First Presbyterian Church present: Making Mission Work with Dr. Robert Lupton.

Don’t miss Dr. Robert Lupton, well-known author of Toxic Charity and now, Charity Detox: What charity would look like if we cared about results as he offers a roadmap for turning short-lived good intentions into lasting transformation.

Dr. Lupton is a seasoned practitioner with 40 years in community development work. His most recent book, Charity Detox, provides a rare perspective on how we can rethink and rework missions to have real impact in moving the poverty needle. It may be a hard truth to learn that our mission trips and generous gifts have hurt communities, but we will learn the steps to create robust systemic transformation and what we can do now.

If you have a passion for missions and/or a compassion for serving the poor, you will not want to miss this event!
