Description

Making Meaningful Mischief
With the Yes Men
October 10, 6:00pm, USU Ballroom

Can pranks, mischief and creativity change the course of history? The Yes Men are a persuasive and entertaining argument that they can. This media activist duo couldn’t hold down jobs until they used their outrage at corporate misdeeds to transform themselves into representatives of Exxon, Halliburton, the WTO and Dow Chemical. They created ironic media performance art hoaxes that impersonated these big businesses and their wrongdoings that were then splashed across the evening news. In light of intense public scrutiny, many of the corporations quietly changed their policies. Andy Bichlbaum, aka Jacques Servin, will be sharing clips from their documentaries while exploring their process and what others can do to help fix the world. Join us for is invaluable event for those looking to attract media attention to their cause, and for all citizens in today’s climate of “fake news.”

You can learn more about The Yes Men on facebook and twitter.
