Event description

Description

  • "Can I pay my bills?"

  • "Is a capital investment worth it?"

  • "Is this the right price?"

  • "Should I add a new product line?"

The Making It Happen: Profitability and Success training for farmers will give you the financial management toolbox needed to confidently answer these questions and improve your farm decision-making abilities. This interactive online course presents four tools--cash flow budgeting, scenario planning, enterprise budgeting, and sensitivity analysis--that "are fundamental and work well together to provide a comprehensive toolbox," according to a 2018 course participant.

The training is intended for producers with at least one year of operating experience and is approved as a USDA Farm Service Agency borrower training in Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Participants in these areas receive registration priority.

Registration includes online sessions, supplementary videos, and one-on-one coaching with an instructor.

Please note: This online course is held from 10am-noon Eastern Time on January 25, February 1, and February 15. The workshop is also offered from 3pm-5pm on the same dates.

Technology Requirements

  • This interactive online course will use the GoToMeeting platform, which is accessible via computers, tablets, and mobile devices. All participants will need an internet enabled device.

  • A microphone is required so you can participate and ask questions; and a webcam is strongly suggested. Attendees will receive call-in details and curriculum materials after registering and completing a pre-survey.

  • Participants should plan to participate actively in all sessions. This requires using a microphone and webcam.
