BSL's 2-day course Making Impact as a Corporate Board Member provides current and future board members with know-how and practical tools for maximizing their effectiveness and impact. As a participant, you will discover how to influence organizational performance, lead conversations around emerging hot topics, and add value based on your profile and strengths.

OUR INSTRUCTORS

Dr. Michael Hathorn

Dr. Michael Hathorn teaches in the MBA program and Diploma in Sustainable Business at BSL. He is a partner of OPTIMIS and leads the Optimis Learning business, where he focuses on sustainable executive and organizational development. Previously working for the investment management firm, Capital International, Michael founded and headed the firm’s Learning and Organizational Development function for the European businesses. At TNT in Amsterdam, he served as Group Director of Learning and Organizational Development during a major strategic change initiative to create synergies across the three divisional businesses. He is a contributor to the World Business Council on Sustainable Development and is a member of the Society for Organizational Learning and the American Marketing Association. In addition, he is a partner in the area of Board Development at the International Center for Corporate Governance where he focuses on talent development and board diversity. Prof. Hathorn is a graduate of Louisiana State University with an MS in Marketing. He received his Ph.D. in International Business from the University of St. Gallen.

Dr. Katrin Muff

Dr. Katrin Muff is a thought leader in the transformative space of sustainability and responsibility at Business School Lausanne, where she acted as Dean from 2008-2015. Under her leadership, the school focused its vision on entrepreneurship, responsibility and sustainability in education and research. Her business experience includes 10 years at ALCOA (GM in Russia, Industry Analyst for Global M&A in the U.S. and Business Analyst Europe), 3 years as Director, Strategic Planning EMEA at IAMS Europe (Procter&Gamble), and 3 years as a co-founder of Yupango, a coaching consultancy dedicated to start-ups and training management teams. Dr. Muff holds a Ph.D. in Leadership from the University of Exeter and a DBA and MBA from Business School Lausanne.

LOGISTICS

The 2-day program begins at 9:00am and finishes at 5:00pm on both days. Food will be provided and is included in the ticket price. The language of instruction is English. The program will take place at Business School Lausanne in Switzerland.

PROGRAM COST

Program cost for 2018 is CHF 2'018.

PAYMENT

Registration is not complete until you are paid in full by purchasing a ticket for this program.

DISCOUNTS

We currently offer the following discounts:

  • Groups of two to five individuals attending the same program from the same organization: The first participant pays full price and a 15% discount is extended for up to four additional participants. Please note that we do not allow more than five participants from one organization in any single open-enrollment program to encourage diversity of industry and experience in the classroom.
  • Individuals attending more than one program in a calendar year: You pay full price for the first program registration and receive a 10% discount for each additional program throughout the year.
  • Social entrepreneurs: Professionals working in the social entrepreneurship sector can benefit from a 20% discount. You need to submit evidence of your activity and a paragraph describing your experience.

REFUND POLICY

If you are unable to attend a program that you've registered and paid for, you are eligible for a full refund until 30 days prior to the event. Cancellation notices must be emailed to exedu@bsl-lausanne.ch. If a cancellation is received after the deadline above, no refunds will be issued, however the ticket can be transferred to another person on request. No-shows are non-refundable.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

The course is designed for professionals who are comfortable reading, speaking and listening to English, and who can actively participate in presentations and classroom discussions conducted in English. While we do not require proof of English language proficiency, we expect that you are fluent in English in order to fully understand and participate in all aspects of the program.
