About this event
Each 10-week after-school session focuses on hands-on projects meant to engage busy hands and expand curious minds. Programming spans from woodshop to welding to computer aided art and design to videography and animation.

A Geodesic After School Special Project
For girls and gender expansive kids* ages 13+
who have taken 2 or more SkillSet classes already!
We need some curious and experienced hands to help solve this design challenge.
FRIDAYS, 4pm - 6:30pm
February 3 - April 7
@ UNCA STEAM Studio
In this special projects class, we will build a large scale geodesic dome for the Asheville Art Museum's exhibit on Buckminster Fuller. Throughout the process we'll learn about the inventor, scientist, and philosopher, test Fuller's structural theories, look into the "why" behind the dome, and experiment with materials and methods. Students will imagine their own solutions to issues of housing and climate today.
The finished piece will be exhibited in the Asheville Art Museum in the Spring of 2023!
