Pair a drive through beautiful Chester County with a visit to the former home and studio of Wharton Esherick, a leading figure in twentieth century design. Esherick Museum Executive Director Julie Gannaway will lead a tour of the Museum and 1956 Workshop, designed by Louis Kahn for his friend. A singular example of modern architecture, this National Historic Landmark for Architecture showcases the legacies of both Esherick and Kahn.

A note on accessibility: Wharton Esherick's home and studio is his most iconic work and the museum is committed to enabling all visitors to experience this special place. Due to the historic, hand-built nature of the building and a spiral staircase which connects an upper and lower level, portions of the Studio are not accessible for wheelchair users and users with mobility issues. In lieu of navigating through these spaces physically, the museum provides printed or digital materials as a way of exploring these spaces. 1956 Workshop is accessible to wheelchair users. Accomodations can be arranged in advance for visitors who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as visitors who are blind or have low vision.

This program is co-presented by The Fabric Workshop and Museum and the Wharton Esherick Museum.
