About This Event:

LA Tech4Good and Social Enterprise Alliance (SEA) Los Angeles are hosting a conversation about Civic Tech with the founders of two LA-based startups that allow your voice to be heard on the political issues you care about the most.

LawMaker – for grassroots policy creation and micro-lobbies

CommonAlly – for issue-based content and gamified actions

Come join a conversation on tech and politics with two founders in the civic tech space – Amit Thakkar and Aaron Lyles. Learn how they strategically designed and built their products to make a difference in today’s political atmosphere. Together they have a wealth of experience with vision, concept validation, MVP, market research and pivots, engagement points, funding for social enterprise startups, and more. They’ll share how they actually built their platforms and speak to key challenges of breaking into civic tech.

Why It Matters:

Government cannot reflect us and our values unless we participate. CommonAlly and LawMaker work to bridge the political divide and unearth common ground that’s productive, issue-based, and fosters healthy discourse around today’s political challenges.

Agenda:

6:30 -7:00 - Check-in and network!

7:00 - 7:30 - Discussion

7:30 - 8:00 - Q&A

Takeaways:

You’ll be empowered to use technology to make your voice heard and hold your representatives accountable on the issues and causes you care about the most. Our speakers hope to inspire the next generation of civic tech entrepreneurs. You’ll participate in a lively conversation with both our speakers as they discuss the importance of civic tech in 2019 and how the sector can grow through social entrepreneurship.
