Event description

Description

My sweet sweet Claire is 8 years old and has been asking me, "What do you do for work?" aka "What do you do while I’m at school?". I shared with her that I work with individuals and teams developing their leadership skills. I asked her if she knew what leadership was and she quickly responded by saying, "Yes, it means they are the boss. They tell people what to do". She then added, “It is like how I am the Captain of my OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books) team”. Later that morning as she got out of the car for school she looked at me and said, "Have a great day Rachel, make bosses not bullies!" She then slammed the door and ran off into the school. That phrase “Make bosses not bullies” stunned me at first, but has since stuck with me.

Recently, many people have asked me about leadership classes that are open for the public. I have decided it is time to put Claire’s phrase to good use. In January, I am starting a monthly training program focusing on common challenges that many leaders, managers, supervisors or "bosses" struggle with. We will focus on topics such as poor follow through by team members, unresolved conflicts or too much time spent in meetings with little results. Learn how to motivate your team to go above and beyond.

Come join us on Tuesday, January 10th for our kick off training from 10:30-12p at Symposium Coffee in Tigard. We will start our 6 session workshop series learning focusing on Patrick Lencioni's book "The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team". Come learn with others in a supportive and honest environment.
