Event description

Description

Create a one-part silicone mold (block and sock molds) and then cast into the mold using concrete. Learn how to make multiples of a sculpture or 3D object you've made. Design your own table top containers, coasters, or succulent planters. Workshop led by artist and moldmaking/casting expert Robert Bennett Jr.

Supplies included for moldmaking/casting.

Participants must bring:

  • A simple object to make a mold from that has at least one side that can sit flat on a table
  • Personal safety glasses
  • Apron or work clothes that can get messy
  • Vinyl gloves (latex gloves will inhibit the cure of the silicone)

INSTRUCTOR BIO: Robert Bennett Jr. was born in East Syracuse, New York in 1992. In 2014 he received a Bachelors of Fine Art in Sculpture with a minor in Public Engagement from Maine College of Art. He currently resides in Portland, Maine. Bennett’s projects range in material and scale, from a large scale installation taking over an entire room to a detailed study of the mouth. All of his projects present moments of solitude for his audience. Bennett’s current work explores the way the physical body changes over time.
