Event description

Description

This workshop will navigate the ins and outs of contractual agreements. It may seem like a boring topic but just wait until you hear the tales the panel have on what can go wrong when you jump into bed with a stranger without fully understanding the terms of the agreement. We will run through some basic contractual terminology, discuss the importance of negotiation and dissect some standard recording and publishing contracts as an example of what to look out for. We will also discuss when to engage a lawyer (always) and where to find one that understands music industry standards.

Facilitator: Craig McKay (Music SA) Panellists: David Vodicka (Media Arts Lawyers), Betty Kontoleon (Author – ‘Music and the law’), Alex Karatassa (5/4 Entertainment), Matt Swayne (Brillig / APRA AMCOS)

Running times: Doors open at 5.30pm, workshop from 6.00-8.00pm with 30min intermission.

Registration essential.
