Join Making A Difference Dinner hosted by Emmy Award winning reporter and KOAA's Elizabeth Watts in the magnificent ballroom at Hotel Elegante and Conference Center on January 13th, 2018 to support Autism & Asperger Connections. Autism & Asperger Connections is a 501c3 non-profit organization linking families, individuals, and professionals in the Colorado Springs community to autism support, information, and resources. Join us in supporting this local charity and experience how supporting local organizations makes a huge impact on our children in our community.
We are excited to have best-selling author Temple Grandin as one of our key note speakers at this event. Dr. Grandin became a prominent author and speaker on both autism and animal behavior. She has been featured on NPR (National Public Radio) and a BBC Special – "The Woman Who Thinks Like a Cow". She has also appeared on National TV shows such as Larry King Live, 20/20, Sixty Minutes, Fox and Friends, and she had a 2010 TED talk. Articles about Dr. Grandin have appeared in Time Magazine, New York Times, Discover Magazine, Forbes and USA Today. HBO made an Emmy Award winning movie about her life and she was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2016. She is also internationally famous as a spokesperson on autism.
Enjoy an elegant evening and the amazing words from our key-note speakers. Dinner options include succulent selections including chicken chasseur, flat iron steak and vegetable wellington. Enjoy dinner with the region’s premier chamber ensemble Chamber Orchestra of the Springs string quartet providing a peaceful ambient background. Then take delight in our Silent Auction to support Autism & Asperger Connections. After that, conclude the night with some live entertainment provided by the musical stylings of Tony Exum Jr and band. This National Recording Artist’s saxophone style brings to mind the sultriness of Grover Washington, Jr., the soulfulness of David Sanborn, the silky smoothness of George Howard, and the tender passion of Ronnie Laws.
