About this Event

This October, we’re excited to bring Portland, Maine based potter Ayumi Horie right to your computer for an in-depth virtual chat! Horie's three-part presentation will begin with her socially engaged projects which include The Democratic Cup, Pots In Action, and Portland Brick, a public art installation in the India Street neighborhood. She will then move into her studio to explain the making process behind some of her pots and finally to her own kitchen for a fun segment called "A Potter's Cupboard" where she will talk about the functional works that reside in her personal collection.

FREE for Mechanics’ Hall members, $8 general admission. We will cross reference our membership database prior to the event. Visit here to learn more about the benefits of membership and join Mechanics' Hall.

Thank you to Machias Savings Bank, supporting sponsor for Makers at the Hall 20/21 season.

Funding for Mechanics' Hall has been provided by The Maine Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security(CARES) Act economic stabilization plan of 2020.
