Maker Monday: July 2019 Edition with Michael de Groot and Karl W Newton
Event Information
Description
Join us for the July 2019 edition of Maker Monday, our monthly slice of inspiration from the creative and tech worlds.
We are delighted again to welcome two fantastic and insightul speakers from across the broad creative industries.
Michael de Groot works with small business owners to become better storytellers and share engaging stories about themselves and their businesses. Through his small business Staying Alive UK, Michael produces visually impactful cartoons and animation campaigns, engaging audiences and giving them a unique insight into an organisation’s story and value proposition.
For this month’s Maker Monday, Michael will be delivering an exciting workshop on podcasting. Podcasts are growing in the UK, with nearly 6 million adults now tuning in each week. Audio is less interruptive compared to video and can be absorbed on the move.
A regular podcaster himself, Michael will be sharing ideas, insights and tips on podcassting, how to get them started, distributed and posted.

Karl W Newton is a Brummie photographer with a rising reputation. Having already held 2 solo exhibitions and having work published Karl brings Maker Mondays this workshop/talk off the back of publishing his debut photography book which alongside his photographs campaigns for 'Creativity to be prescribed on the NHS'. This is a cause close to Karl's heart being a sufferer of mental health and a recovering substance abuse addict. In this talk, Karl will explain his vision further as well as discussing his photography journey and techniques further.
