WHEN | July 7 + 8, 2018
WHERE | Toronto Reference Library @ Yonge and Bloor

Upgrade your Festival experience by becoming a volunteer (aka legend). We're looking for folks to help attendees find their way around, facilitate workshops, and more! Perks of volunteering include Festival t-shirt, hanging out with other like-minded folks, and food and drinks on us ♥ Learn more & sign up!

Maker Festival is a community-organized event that takes tens of thousands of non-monopoly money to make happen every year. Despite being run solely by volunteers (yup, even the Executive Director!) – we are committed to keeping the event FREE to attend. We think technology, DIY and tinkering is for everyone, so please show your support by making a donation today!

Q | What is Maker Festival?

We bring together 100+ of Toronto’s most exciting makers, craftspeople, technologists, and hobbyist to show off what they’ve been working on, all in one place. The Extravaganza is a celebration of technology, creativity, and DIY.

The Festival unlocks the inner maker in everyone by nudging participants toward experimenting, hacking, building, and playing with the physical and digital worlds.

Q | When is the best time to visit?

The Maker Extravaganza is open at the Toronto Reference Library Saturday July 7th from 9-5pm and Sunday July 8th from 10-5pm.

We find Sunday is usually a little quieter and coming earlier certainly helps to beat the crowd!

Q | Is this only for techy people?

Nope! We’ll have all kinds of people coming to take a look and have a diversity of makers on show – from origami to installation art to textiles to robotics.

Q | Is there a minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Everybody is welcome!

Q | Are there activities for little ones and bigger ones?

There are activities for all ages, from 3 to 100 years old.

Q | Do I need to bring anything?

Essentials include: curiosity & imagination.

Other than that, things that might come in handy include: your cash/debit/credit in case you fall in love with the few creations that are available to buy, some snacks in case you’re thinking of coming all day (cafes and restaurants are also nearby), and your family and friends to share the maker-ey love.

Q | What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

If you are planning on using the public transportation, aim for Bloor-Yonge subway station and walk 1 minute north towards the library on Yonge Street.

Paid parking is available too: there are parking lots on Asquith Ave (remember to enter through the east end of the street as the west will be closed), Cumberland Avenue and Church Street.
