Event description

Description

MakeIt Labs is hosting another TIG Welding class! Students will learn how to weld using the TIG (tungsten inert gas) method. This welding process is more advanced and it is recommended (but not required) that students have had some experience with other welding processes first.

Students will learn in a two-hour session. The session will cover an overview of welding terminology, safety, device operation, and later demonstration and supervised hands on practice. No previous experience is needed, and this class will fully qualify students to indipendently run the shop welding equipement after the class. The class is not designed to make welding experts nor is it for any welding certifications. It aims to get students comfortable around welders and to learn the basics of metal fabrication to aid in project completion. This class focuses mainly on steel, however aluminum will be breifly discussed.

Starting with this class the TIG welders will move to a "Bring Your Own Consumables" setup. This means that you will need your own parts to run the welder similar to how the plasma cutter is operated. Hobbiest and Pro member tickets come with a comsumables kit.

The Class repeats the fourth wednesday of every month starting Sseptember 27th, 2017

Please meet in the welding area by 7PM.

The class is limited to 2 total students per session. This is done to ensure all students get sufficient hands on time with the machines.

Please be sure to bring a long sleeve shirt made from natural materials (no synthetics) and closed toe shoes.

This class is taught by the current welding resource manager Chris Egan (welding@makeitlabs.com)

Students should consult their doctor about any health conditions prior to taking the class.
