Event description

Description

Learn how to make your own ceramic mug for a loved one or yourself through the use of clay slabs and coils, or give someone else the gift of making one themselves. Choose the final color for your textural creation! This is an introductory class for handbuilding and stamping decoration in clay. No prior experience required and firing included. Participants can make arrangements to pick up their finished pieces or have them shipped. This class is open to all ages. Children younger than 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Due to the popularity of this class, cancellations must be made by August 3. Cancellations made by this date will be fully refunded. Cancellations made after this date will not receive a refund.

Instructor Erin Younge is the STARworks Clay Studio director. She received an MFA in Ceramics at East Carolina University and a BFA in Sculpture at the UNC Greensboro. Her childhood memories of practicing Judeo-Christian ceremonies and rituals inspires branching themes of ceramic work that express a reverence for religious objects and adornment. She has taught workshops and shown nationally throughout the US. Currently she is a co-organizer of Wood Fire NC, an international conference held at STARworks, and a board member of the Seagrove Area Potters Association in Seagrove, NC.
