Event description

Join Connect the Dots facilitators Andrea, Selina and the two foxies, for a relaxed and seated conversation. We will share ideas and draw connections between the ideas and themes in two sculptures.

This tour is highly recommended for visitors who enjoy a gentle pace and time for conversation.

Tour Plan:

  • Introduction and welcome at the Visitor Centre at 10am

  • 15 minute walk to area with first sculpture

  • Morning refreshments to begin

  • Conversation at first sculpture

  • Move to second sculpture

  • Conversation at second sculpture

  • 15 minute walk back to the Visitor Centre

Please be mindful of the extraordinary summer we are having and dress appropriately for the weather. Should you require it, you can book a scooter from the Auckland Botanic Gardens. It is important that you read FAQs thoroughly before you book.

What can I expect when I arrive?

  • You and your group will be met on the Gardens side of the Visitor Centre at 10am

  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time to allow time to find a carpark (on occasion the carpark may be full so you will need to allow time to drop your group with us and then find street parking), use the bathroom, apply sunscreen etc.

  • Connect the Dots staff will welcome the group and explain the outline of the morning.

  • Each attendee will be given a name label, and a seat to carry to each artwork. If attendees are unable carry their own seat Connect the Dots staff can do so.

  • The tour will set off at 10am sharp!

What can you expect from Connect the Dots on the day?

Our primary goal is that you and your group have a safe and enjoyable time. We will be focussed on making people feel welcome, directing the group to the works, facilitating the discussions at each art work, providing morning tea, and concluding the tour.

Should anyone in your group require assistance (e.g. a member of staff to come and collect them and return them to the Visitor Centre) we can facilitate that on your behalf.

What does Connect the Dots need from me if I am group leader?

We are not able to manage the group in regards to their comfort or to ensure that they stay with the group, so please be aware that we are expecting you to be responsible for their safety and whereabouts.

The sculpture exhibition is spread out across the Gardens, and we will be walking for up to 10 minutes in the heat between 2-3 sculptures. Whilst we have designed the tours to keep sun exposure to a minimum, and have included shady stops, we will be in the sun!

What I need to bring to stay safe in the sun?

  • Dress appropriately for the weather – lightweight clothing that covers the skin

  • Wear sunscreen – complimentary sunscreen is available at the Visitor Desk in the Visitor Centre

  • Wear a hat, or carrying an umbrella, or wearing a thin scarf over the head and neck

  • Bring a water bottle

  • The tour runs for an hour and half and will involve up to 15-minutes walk to the first sculpture (please check your tour details for more information).

  • If you or one of your group may find this level of physical activity challenging in the heat, please book a scooter directly with the Auckland Botanic Gardens, by calling: 09 267 1457,

Do we have morning tea on the tour?

Connect the Dots provides a cold drink and home baking in a shaded spot during the tour. It is $2 per person, and if you are part of a group we can invoice you afterwards, otherwise we accept cash on the day.

How do we get there?

Please visit the Auckland Botanic Gardens website for all the visiting and transportation information for the site:

What if I need to cancel?

We appreciate that things can come up that mean you are no longer able to make it. We would appreciate as much notice as possible so that we can offer this opportunity to someone else. If you book more than 6 tickets you will be considered a group and will be expected to give 48 hours notice otherwise we will need to invoice you for the actual cost of the tour.
