Event description

Description

Spend an evening getting creative with The Lily.

We’re hosting a zine-making workshop to commemorate the release of “Incognito,” a zine we made for our readers about secrecy for our one-year anniversary.

At the event, we’ll read an excerpt from “Incognito,” briefly discuss the zine-making community, and then get out our supplies. Over conversation, snacks and drinks, we’ll make zines that you’ll be able to take home for yourself, give to a friend or mail to someone you meet at the workshop.

Admission: $10 covers the cost of supplies and your copy of “Incognito.”

Questions? Email ashley.nguyen@washpost.com with the subject line, “zine workshop.” You don't have to know anything about zines to attend this workshop.

About The Lily

The Lily is a product of The Washington Post dedicated to elevating stories critical to the lives of women. The Lily seeks to empower with news and information and promote inclusivity by exposing diverse voices and perspectives.

About zines

Zines – short for magazine – are do-it-yourself, small-circulation publications. There aren’t many rules or barriers to creating a zine: A zine can be words-only or consist of only drawings. Most combine the two. Anyone can make a zine as long as the individual or group has ideas, paper, pens, glue, and – if you want to distribute your zine – access to a photocopier.
