Make A Stone-Set Ring! MARCH
Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (EDT)
Create sterling silver rings with a beautiful stone in this fun and fast-paced workshop! In one afternoon you will learn the basics of piercing, soldering, filing and setting a stone. We will create band rings whose surface can be embellished by small files, a rolling mill and decorative stamps. You'll use round wire to fabricate a second ring. Students will be shown how to solder a bezel in a classical process of stone setting.
Students will leave the class with an array of basic metalworking skills, a broader understanding of jewelry fabrication, and several rings of their own design.
No previous experience required. Students must be at least 18 years of age.
For a $35 materials fee, students will be provided with a small kit including silver sheet, wire, silver bezels, sawblades and a selection of stones for their projects. The instructor will also be providing consumable supplies such as sand paper, solder, drill bits and more.
What to Bring:
$35 materials fee in cash or check made out to the instructor. Notebook, magnifying glasses or reading glasses if necessary.
