About Find your Voice:

Find Your Voice (FYV) is a leadership and mentorship program that engages young girls in activities that align with the vision “to empower girls in finding their voice and identifying their purpose to become impactful everyday leaders”. The brainchild of singer/songwriter Sisaundra Lewis and developed in cooperation with Orange County Public Schools’ Minority Achievement Office, Find Your Voice utilizes its core values of “V.O.I.C.E- Value, Overcome, Integrity, Commitment and Enthusiasm” to help young women find their inner strength and build a sense of identity to have a voice in their communities. FYV assists in decreasing the achievement gap by supporting young girls through mentorship and the power of sisterhood. Currently active in seven middle schools and two high schools, this new program is poised for expansion.

About My Brother's Keeper:

My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) is a national initiative that addresses persistent opportunity gaps faced by young men of color. MBK aims to ensure that all young people reach their full potential. OCPS has accepted President Obama's challenge to participate in the My Brother's Keeper Initiative. This district-wide response focuses on recruiting 500 male mentors for our young males of color. The program is open to boys who could benefit from strong male mentor support and role models. Academics and social aspects are discussed with career implications. Regular meetings are encouraged to help to motivate boys to successful opportunities.
