Event description

Description

Maine Voices Live features 1:1 conversations between Portland Press Herald staff and notable Maine voices. Audience members can expect a memorable night and a chance for Q&A at the end.

Lincoln Peirce is the creator of Big Nate, a comic strip that has appeared in 200 newspapers in the U.S., including the Portland Press Herald, for almost 20 years. Big Nate is about a rebellious sixth-grader, his single dad and his friends in the fictional town of Rackleff, Maine. Peirce has been drawing the strip since 1991, focusing on the indignities and absurdities of middle-school life for kids, parents and teachers.

Peirce previously worked as a storywriter for shows on Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. He also hosts a radio show called
“South by Southwest,” dedicated to honky-tonk and western swing, every Monday morning on WMPG.

How does he stay creative? What are his inspirations for making you laugh in four panels? And how does he make sure the world sees Maine in his stories? Press Herald digital director and big comics fan
Chad Gilley will get the answers as he hosts Peirce for an intimate evening at One Longfellow Square.

Book signing will follow the interview. Bring your own or purchase them from the Longfellow Books pop-up store.
