Maine Proficiency-Based, Customized Learning Summit (August 3 & 4, 2016)
We invite you to join us for two days of learning about how schools and teachers are designing the “Ideal Learning Experience” for ALL their learners. Over these two days a variety of educators will share what they are doing to change the traditional policies, procedures and structures that prevent them from providing their learners with a customized and personalized learning experience.
Our summit will include a variety of “empowerment” sessions designed to briefly present what a group of teachers and/or administrators are doing, with time to pose questions, etc. It will also be designed for educators to connect outside of the empowerment sessions to learn from each other.
A variety of topics will be addressed such as: teaching habits of mind, replacing grading with learner feedback, high school transcript development, policy changes that support our vision, grouping and regrouping across multiple grade levels and how teachers are “sharing the load”. In addition, topics on teaching complex reasoning, building a culture of critical thinking, using technology to customize/personalize and incorporating the three components of curriculum: content knowledge, habits of mind and reasoning processes while designing motivating learning experiences will be offered.
Daily Schedule: 8:30 - 3:00
Contact hours will be provided. 13 Contact Hours for the 2 days.
