Event description
Join us in bringing Hoosiers together to celebrate the different ways Muslims can break barriers and #BSeenBHeard in their every day lives!

About this Event

Join us for MAI's Annual Fundraising Banquet & Award Ceremony on Saturday, November 16th, 2019 at Indiana University Purdue University - Indianapolis (IUPUI)!

The theme for this year's banquet is Be Seen, Be Heard: Breaking Barriers. At our annual dinner and fundraiser, we hope to bring people from the local community together and inspire them about civic engagement, service to their neighbors, and celebrating their communities' achievements. The banquet will celebrate and inspire our broader Hoosier community by sharing stories and examples of how our individual strengths uplift our community.

Our keynote speaker this year will be Arsalan Iftikhar, human rights lawyer, global media commentator, and author of the book "SCAPEGOATS: How Islamophobia Helps Our Enemies & Threatens Our Freedoms," also famously known on Twitter as "The Muslim Guy."

In addition to hearing from notable Muslim community leaders, we will present our Annual Community Awards to organizations and individuals who have gone above and beyond to excel in their areas of advocacy, service, and entrepreneurship.

About Us

The Muslim Alliance of Indiana is a non-profit organization serving Muslims across the state of Indiana. We have 5 core pillars which drive our mission - advocate, engage, empower, collaborate, serve. Through these pillars, we hope to build to a broad Hoosier Muslim community that is strong in its diversity, inclusive, and is capable of effective collective action to preserve its civil rights and liberties, along with those other vulnerable groups.

Schedule of Events

Community Fair: 5-6 pm

Do you own or know of a Muslim-owned or Muslim-friendly business? We want to showcase them at the Community Fair at this year's banquet! There is no fee to participate, but a donation is suggested.

Because the future lies with our youth, we will have a special workshop with our Keynote Speaker Arsalan Iftikhar for high school and college aged youth prior to the banquet. The workshop is FREE, but space is limited so registration is required.

A banquet ticket is also required for any youth who wish to attend the banquet portion of the evening.

Banquet & Awards Ceremony: 6-9 pm

Be Seen Be Heard: Breaking Barriers! This year's theme highlights how Muslims from Indiana and around the world have made their mark and inspired their communities.
