Description

Have you been looking for a way to have an impact in Savannah politics? Have you been participating online, and do you want to make a more meaningful difference?

Come learn how to magnify your impact!

The Chatham County Democratic Committee will be holding a training session on Saturday, August 26, to teach you how to make your voice heard in Savannah government. At this training session you will learn:

  • What the CCDC is, and why it's important to our community
  • How the CCDC works with the state and national Democratic parties
  • How you can become a committee member of the CCDC

Additionally, we will have a special guest speaker, Sarah Todd from the Democratic Party of Georgia, who will be leading a session in how to effectively manage a county commitee. This is a great learning opportunity for all current and future committee members! The session will teach the most effective ways to develop an agenda, manage a subcommittee, and participate in the local democratic process.

Agenda:

10:00-10:30 - Check in and Coffee

10:30-11:00 - Introduction the CCDC and What We Do - Jay Jones, 2nd Vice Chair of the CCDC

11:00-12:45 - Democratic Committee Leadership Training - Sarah Todd, Democratic Party of Georgia

12:45-1:00 - Q&A Session

About our Special Guest Speaker, Sarah Todd:

Sarah Todd is the current Chair of the Newton County Democratic Party and the immediate past Chair of the 4th Congressional District, making her well equipped to be the Vice Chair of Congressional District Chairs and County Party Liaison.

A lifelong Democrat, her involvement with the party spans decades. She has won numerous awards for her commitment to the party and her volunteer work in her community, including the Democratic Party of Georgia’s Speaker Tom Murphy Lifetime Achievement Award and the Newton County NAACP Achievement of Excellence for Political Representation Award.

Although born in Jefferson City, MO, Sarah’s family moved to Georgia when she was six years old. She is a graduate of Newton County High School in Covington, GA and Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. Sarah currently resides in Covington with her husband, Brian, and their son, Carter. Outside of politics, Sarah’s two greatest passions are volunteering at Carter’s school, where she is a substitute teacher and a very active board member of the PTO, and advocating for and raising autism awareness.
