Thank you so much for your registration to the Activate Conference! Unfortunately this event has been cancelled, so a refund will be returned to you this week in the manner in which you paid. The good news is that the event has been taken over by several area churches and is now a FREE event called the One Hope Conference. This new conference will feature the same speakers, and great worship, and it will still take place at Thousand Pines Conference Center. Details on the Activate cancellation and this new One Hope conference are below. Thank you for your understanding.
For the last six months the Magnify Team has looked forward to our Activate Conference with eager anticipation. After two very successful outdoor concerts at the Lake Arrowhead Village, where we saw churches from all over our mountain come out to worship the Lord through music, we were inspired to broaden the horizons of our ministry. The Activate Conference was born of a desire among our team to see believers on this mountain activated in their God-given calling and giftedness to boldly fulfill the great commission. That was literally the chosen theme of our event; the Great Commission.
Since announcing the conference at our August concert, we have seen an amazing response to this vision. Many people have come alongside of us to affirm our ministry’s calling to promote unity within the body of Christ. That has been so encouraging and exciting. At the same time, we felt an immediate resistance from local churches because of our speaker selection. One of our selected speakers is from a charismatic background and another one of our speakers is a woman. Though we had prayerfully selected the unique voices that we felt the Lord leading us to include in this conference, we felt a strong opposition to these choices. While this has been disheartening, it is also understandable. Magnify was proud to promote speakers that we know and trust, and we stand by each of the people we selected, but we also recognize that our familiarity and discernment about them is not easily transferable. Churches and individuals are always free to choose who they want to support, based on their personal preferences and ideology. We affirm that.
In an effort to promote greater unity with the churches we have felt opposition from, we have decided to not proceed with the conference as a Magnify event. We pray that our neutrality will give us future opportunities to build relationship with local churches and to mend those with churches who have known us longer.
When it was decided that we would be shifting directions, several local churches stepped up with enthusiasm to take the event on themselves and promote it as a free event where all are welcome. That was a huge blessing to us. This new event, called the One Hope Conference, shares our heart for the mountain and our desire to see it saved, but it will be specifically lead and directed by these local churches and will no longer be a Magnify event. The conference will continue to be held at Thousand Pines Christian Camp and an updated speaker list and conference schedule is available on: www.onehope.eventbrite.com
We thank you for your understanding and we look forward to serving the mountain in the future through concerts and worship events that draw people to God’s heart and which unify the body of Christ in His love.
